Transitioning to Cal Poly

Cal Poly sponsors advising and orientation programs for incoming students. In addition, the Week of Welcome program, also known as WOW, provides transition help for incoming students. This program is held in September immediately before the beginning of fall classes. On-campus summer advisement is not provided specifically for the Honors Program, but incoming students are welcome to make an appointment to meet with Honors Program staff during their campus visit.

Questions regarding registration, major degree requirements, and major curricula should be addressed to a student's major department, college advisement center, or the Mustang Success Center. Links to numerous advising resources can be found through Academic Advising. Additional questions regarding registration may be addressed to the Office of the Registrar.  Information regarding Advanced Placement (AP) credit may be found here.

Academic Skills Center

The Academic Skills Center (ASC) offers a variety of retention programs and support services designed to help students succeed in their academic endeavors.  The ASC website provides information regarding study skills services and tutoring.  The Study Skills Library provides tips on note taking, memorization, time management, test preparation, and overcoming procrastination.

Information Technology Services

Information Technology Services (ITS) provides e-mail, portal, and calendar support. Information regarding these and other campus computing resources can be found through the ITS Service Desk.  The Honors Program communicates with its continuing students primarily through e-mail and the Honors Program site on PolyLearn, which is available through the My Cal Poly Portal.  Extensive information regarding these resources can be found at the Service Desk website.
